I'm so angry..

Last night, my husband was doing the nightly walking of the dogs. He was attacked by a large dog, acutally our little Zoli was the target. It was dark, the dog came out of nowhere and grabbed her around the neck. H ended up rolling around on the ground, prying the dog's jaw off Zoli. By then he was also calling for help. Three men came running and two of them held the big dog and the other helped H up and gathered our dogs. H brought Zoli in, called me and went back out to find his glasses and see about the other dog. After seeing how badly she was bitten, we left for the emergency animal clinic. Zoli has several stitches, some punctures that have to remain open so they can drain, and a couple of bruised legs. H came to the hospital as soon as he had talked to all the authorities.

This morning we found out who owns the dog. At the same time, animal control had received a call from another neighbor and had picked up the "pitbull." Because H had no puncture wounds, they gave the dog back to the owner along with a ticket for $150. Heis to pay Zoli's doctors bills also.

It's not looking good, folks. The guy that owns the dog was supposed to be this afternoon. After waiting for four hours we called. Left a message. Left another message. He called an hour later. He doesn't know what the big deal is....his dog is fine and we had ours "fixed." He has bills, ya know, he has to pay his mortgage, electric..yada, yada. H reminded him we were all in the same boat. The kid got belligerent. Not looking good.... He is supposed to come over tomorrow morning. He is active duty military, so we can go that route if we have to but don't really want to. It's his attitude! When he called he said he had to go dirt bike racing tonight and that was why he couldn't take care of business...not looking good.

The good news ..Zoli is going to be okay. She looks a little "Frankendogish" but the pain meds are keeping her quiet and bodily functions are good.. I'm putting in a little picture of her, so if you have major pet sympathy pains, don't look.

I Voted

It was a little traumatic for me. The first time I didn't know which way I was going to go until I had the ballot in my possession. Not sure yet that I'm comfortable with the way I went but I did get out and vote. Son 3 and I will always cancel each other out, "nuf said."

Planning on a little trip taking my sweetness with me. She started kindergarten and is on a break so we will fly to Philly for a few days. We've never taken a trip like this together and I'm so looking forward to it! I don't think she will travel with the hat.......

Oh, The Places You Will Go!

This was growing in the backyard of the house I was staying in. At Pearl Harbor. In Hawai'i. Not only did I experience paradise but I did it with two terrific friends. It was perfect...we snorkled, sailed, golfed and shopped. The beach, the flowers, the food, the wine......how perfect can life be? Even the loooong plane ride in the littttlllle seat could not put a damper on it. Coffee in gazebo in the morning, then wine there in the evening. No bugs..no snakes. In my friend's yard were mangoes, bananas and tangerines. We stood to the National Anthem every morning while outside drinking coffee and stood again for colors in the evening. Even heard the Japanese national anthem as they had a ship in port. Took the Admiral's barge around Ford Island and walked through the Arizona Memorial. Saw all the monuments to the other ships that were lost. Goose bumps just thinking about it. I saw sea turtles trying to make their way to shore. Three huge turtles....

Rainy Day

We woke up to the rain this morning and here it is, midafternoon, and it is still coming down. I do love it. The greens are greener, the browns are browner and everything just seems alive. The dogs have decided it is a great sleeping day.

Dogs

I think I'm finding by reading knitters blogs and such, that more knitters have cats than dogs. Why is that? Is it the temperment of the animal or the personality of the knitter? Is it because dogs are needier? I don't know but do cats shed less? This has to be thought through. Meanwhile, here is one of my little loves, Zoli. She is sweet and lovable and alot of fun. Her brother, Remy, looks like her except he has curlier fur. He hugs. Really puts his paws around your neck and hugs.

This is my sweet little gal in her new sweater~ to look at her you wouldn't know that she likes it! I think the look is expressing 90 degree weather and being asked to stand still. She has picked out more yarn for two more sweaters so I'm thinking all is well with my endevors. This is the Knit Plain and Simple bolero and it's done in a size 6. Sweetness is between a 4 and 5 so I'm thinking this will carry her through this school year.

Visiting with my new kindergarten cutie. She is in a year round school system and we are on count down as to play time. We went and picked out buttons for her new sweater. The buttons don't really match but she picked them and that's good enough for me!

After a week at the beach, I'm positive that is where I should be living. I always suspected that I need the ocean, sand and salt air to be whole. Finished object. Sweater for our newly graduated kindergartener. Pictures to be posted as soon as they are taken. Maybe as soon as tonight. She has selected buttons so nothing should hold us up now.

Long time no write

It has been such a long time! I have been knitting, spending time with family and reading. So many things to takes pictures of and post. Some KAL"s with Whoduknit, one doing the "Sprout," and currently on using Cami Chic by HazelKnits on Ravelry. New camera so no excuse...if weather is good tomorrow , I'll head outside to take some photos.

I have sprouted..

I finally finished my Spout. Finding the right buttons took almost as long as knitting the sweater. Great fun to knit but it's a bit snug. I have plans to try it again soon with something a little lighter in weight than the Cotton Ease.
I also rec'd my tiny wee sock from the swap. My partner was very generous with two little socks, some stitch markers and a little skein of some yarn she had spun. Thanks again, Rebecca! I'm going to post the pics as soon as my camera battery recharges.

Wee Socks

Just finished and mailed out my wee sock from the Wee Sock Swap of 2008. First time I have participated in a swap and it was much fun. Perfect size project. I'm excited to be getting one any day now in the mail.
Also working on the Sprout KAL with The Knitting Experience Cafe group. Look it up on Ravelry. Way cool and everyone is so friendly. I love the way knitters share.
I haven't learned to link yet. As soon as taxes are done, I will sit down and learn more about how to make this site better. Thanks for bearing with me!

How easy it is to get distracted from posting. Do you suppose that doing is top priority to talking about doing?
I do have several things that I have finished knitting and want to get posted. A sense of accomplishment.

Slower getting started at this than I had planned. I've found more pleasure in knitting than anything else lately so I've been indulging myself. Working my way through Natural Knits for Babies and Moms by Lousia Harding. Immediate gratification........tiny garments.

This is my maiden voyage, so to speak, so be kind....
I would love to have help from you if you could make this a little easier by sharing your knowledge.
